Situation and medium-term forecast
Sunny weather causes intense allergenic burden!
A lot of sunshine and summer-like temperatures are expected for the next days resulting in ideal conditions for pollination. Therefore, pollen allergy sufferers must expect a period of intense burden.
Especially grass pollen will cause moderate to high burden that is not restricted to the lowlands anymore and reaches higher altitudes as well.
Currently meadow grass, brome grasses, orchard grass and false-oat grass are responsible for releasing grass pollen in the air. Grass pollen allergy sufferers should avoid flowering meadows because the local burden is higher there. The burden is lower where it was mowed.
Dock and plantain flower.
Green alder is flowering at higher elevated regions where it already causes low to moderate levels of allergenic burden. Pollen arrives in mostly a low amount also in the lowlands, but the main burden is found in mid- to high-altitude regions.
Birch pollen allergy sufferers may still experience low levels of burden, either caused by birch or by oak due to cross reaction.
What else: The pollen spectrum contains also pollen from mulberry, elderflower, conifers and nettle as well as the carrot family.
Fungal spores will occur now in relevant, but for now low concentrations in the air in the lowlands.
