Situation and medium-term forecast
High burden caused by ash pollen!
Summer like temperatures and a lot of sunshine are expected for the next days. These conditions are ideal for pollination and will therefore result in high levels of burden for pollen allergy sufferers.
Throughout the weekend rising levels of ash pollen concentrations have been recorded. Therefore, high levels of burden are predicted for the next days in the eastern parts of Austria as well as at climatically favoured areas.
Note: An ash pollen allergy is likely to be missed. Note also possible cross-reactions to pollen from olive (attention for holidays!), lilac, forsythia, privet or jasmine.
If the weather conditions stay as they are, first low levels of birch pollen concentrations must be expected in the next days as some of our reference trees show catkins that are reaching readiness to flower.
The pollination period of alder is fading. Pollen allergy sufferers sensitized to pollen of this plant may still experience low to sometimes moderate levels of allergenic burden, especially at higher altitudes.
The pollen of corkscrew hazel is still causing low levels of burden in close vicinity of this ornamental plant.
What else: The pollen spectrum contains also pollen from acer, elm, poplar, willow, cypresses and yews.
