Aesculus hippocastanum (horse-chestnut), A. carnea (red horse-chestnut)

Description:

The big fingered leaves are well known. Trees are very common as ornamental trees, in tree-lined walks, spending a fine shadow in restaurant gardens. As the tree becomes voluminous, it is rather found on public ground than in private gardens. The inflorescences are big white (red) candles. The single flower is white with a yellow center, which turns to red during maturation.

Start of the season:

Flowering period is from end of April to May.

The allergenicity is low to moderate.
