Description:
Beeches are high growing trees in the temperate climates of Europe. Their grey stem with a smooth bark is characteristic. The leaves are shaggy-ciliated at their margins and are not serrated (in contrast to hornbeam). It is the most abundant tree in Central Europe, whereever the ground has sufficient water supply. The small globular male inflorescences appear together with the leaves.
Start of the season:
The season usually starts in April or May.
Allergenicity:
The beech shows low to moderate allergenicity.
Crossreactions are known with birch, alder, hazel, oak, sweet chestnut, hornbeam and hopbeam.
