Latin name:

Juglans regia, J. nigra

Description:

Medium sized trees, up to a maximum of 25 metres high. The leaves of the common walnut (J. regia) are composed of 7 or 9, those of the black walnut (J. nigra) of 11 to 23 leaflets. Male flowers in catkins, appearing short before or together with the leaves.

Start of the season:

The walnut starts flowering in April to May.

Allergenicity:

The allergenicity of the walnut is moderate, in a few cases, monosensitizations are known.

Crossreactions:

Crossreaction are known with hickory.
