Description:
The up to 30 metres tall trees have a characteristic cylindric - ovoid shape. The leaves are heart-shaped. Lime trees are frequently planted as ornamental trees, very often for tree-lined walks. During flowering time, a strong sweet odor fills the neighbouring of the trees, which may lead to the opinion, lime trees would cause allergies. In fact, the allergenicity of their pollen is low.
Start of the season:
Lime trees mainly start flowering in June, with the possible extent to May or July, depending on the geographical situation.
Allergenicity:
Lime trees have no or, in the worst case, very low allergenic potential.
No considerable cross reactions are known.
