Morus alba, M. nigra
Description:
Rather small trees with simple leaves. Male inflorescences are small and very unconspicous, as the plant is wind-pollinated. The sweet white or black fruits are the main reason for cultivation, thus the tree does not grow spontaneously in Europe, but only in orchards or as ornamental tree. A second reason for cultivation is the use of the leaves as food for the silkworm. However, the pollen becomes airborne and can appear in considerable amounts in the air.
